Isaiah Chapman defeats Dustin Kempf in Fight of the Year performance at NAAFS Night of Champions- By: Fleitas Gahagan

Description : As soon as Isaiah Chapman vs. Dustin Kempf was announced, fans familiar with both fighters knew it would be the toughest test of Chapman's young career. Dustin Kempf is no stranger to tough, fan-thrilling fights and facing top-tier fighters, and Kempf at 135lbs, after fighting at 145lbs throughout his career, was certain to be a huge test for Chapman. A product of Rock Hard MMA in Akron, Isaiah Chapman was a 2-time NAAFS Amateur Champion at 135lbs and already 3-0 since turning pro in 2012. The fight proved to be everything the MMA fans of Northeast Ohio could have hoped for and so much more.

Entering the cage Kempf looked huge at 135lbs as the two traded shots. A thrilling 1st round saw the two trade punches and kicks at a frantic, crowd-pleasing pace. The sellout crowd of likely close to 2,000 or more screamed for both popular fighters and did not quiet down throughout.

In the 2nd round the pace did not slow as the two traded early, but Chapman soon trapped Kempf against the cage and unloaded a fury or punches, elbows and knees as Kempf covered up. After 30+ seconds of blocking and eating the shots Kempf escaped and eventually the fight went to the ground where Dustin attempted multiple submission attempts only to see Chapman escape. A triangle choke and armbar attempt appeared to have Chapman in trouble as Kempf then landed several elbow strikes to the head of Chapman causing blood to pour from his hairline. But Chapman was able to escape as the two returned to their feet late in the round before Chapman locked in a guillotine choke to force the tap with just seconds remaining in the 2nd.

What this fight showed fans across the region is that these two warriors, who happen to be two of the nicest guys one will ever meet, have the skills and the heart to beat most anyone who steps into the cage with them. What this fight showed the sponsor of both fighters, Intimidation Clothing, is that we are working with two of the best, two fighters who make us proud, win or lose.

Dustin Kempf falls to 6-6 with the loss in his first fight since suffering a major knee injury at Bellator 51 in September 2011. For Chapman, he improves to 4-0 as a pro following his decorated 11-1 amateur career. What is ahead for either fighter is anyone's guess, although a rumored NAAFS Bantamweight Championship fight is expected for Chapman. One thing in for sure - both fighters have a sponsorship for life with Intimidation.
